Program Overview




This master’s program is dedicated to the intersection of geospatial technology and real-time 3D development. Using Cesium for Unreal, you’ll learn how to integrate real-world data with Unreal Engine to create high-fidelity digital twins, immersive cityscapes, landscape visualizations, simulations, and interactive XR experiences. From urban planning and architecture to defense and climate visualization, this program equips you with the skills to build on top of the real world — virtually.



What You’ll Learn



︎ Cesium for Unreal Integration
Learn how to bring high-resolution 3D Tiles, terrain data, and photogrammetry into Unreal Engine using Cesium's plugin. You'll explore georeferenced rendering, coordinate systems, and loading optimization.


︎ Working with 3D Tiles
Understand the structure and benefits of 3D Tiles (glTF-based format) and how to stream large geospatial datasets in real time. You'll also learn how to host, manage, and layer data dynamically.


︎ Digital Twins & Smart Cities
Develop digital twins of cities, infrastructure, and real-world systems using a blend of Cesium and Unreal. Use real data to visualize live sensor inputs, simulate behavior, or present city planning models.


︎ Geospatial Intelligence & Visualization
Dive into working with GIS data formats (GeoJSON, KML, WFS) and build tools for interacting with terrain elevation, satellite imagery, real-time feeds, and IoT-based simulations.


︎ Precision Mapping & Coordinates
Work with various coordinate reference systems (CRS), ellipsoids, geodetic heights, and Cesium World Terrain for accurate geolocation inside Unreal Engine.



︎ XR & Web Deployment
Build interactive experiences in VR/AR or WebXR using Unreal’s real-time rendering capabilities. Extend digital twins into training, education, tourism, and virtual exploration.


︎ Blueprints & Visual Scripting
Use Unreal’s Blueprint system to build real-time interactions, geospatial navigation UIs, time-of-day systems, and custom data overlays on top of Cesium layers.
